HD when the post is HD
An HD video downloader app can only save what was uploaded. A 1080p post comes back at 1080p; a 720p one stays 720p, and the app does not pretend otherwise.

The video goes from the site straight to your phone. We do not keep a copy, and the app has no account for anything to be stored against.
Reels to MP3: keep only the sound
A lot of people want the sound and not the picture: a voice-over from a recipe reel, a talk someone posted on Facebook, a track you keep hearing on TikTok. Pick MP3 instead of MP4 and that is all you get, as a small file your music app can play with the screen off.
The MP3 is made from the audio the post already carries, which on reels is usually 128 kbps or less. Saving it at a higher number would only make the file bigger, because detail that was never uploaded cannot come back.
The same works for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, X and Dailymotion links. In the Chrome add-on audio is all it does, with M4A, Opus and WAV as well as MP3.

Which file to choose
For the video itself
Picture and sound together. The app picks the copy that plays on any phone (H.264), not just the biggest file.
For listening
The sound only, about a tenth of the size. Plays everywhere, from old car stereos to smart speakers.
When space matters
In the Chrome add-on: the same sound as MP3 in a smaller file, because it keeps the original audio instead of re-encoding it.

What is a social media video downloader?
It is a tool that takes the link to a post and gives you the video inside it as a file you keep. You copy the link in the app you are watching, paste it into the downloader and pick a format. Which app can download videos from all social media?
None of them can, whatever the store listing says. Some sites encrypt their video, some only show it to signed-in members, and some change how they deliver it every few weeks. YTMP3X covers the six sites people paste most and tells you plainly when a link will not work.
Is the YTMP3X Android app free?
Yes. It shows ads and has no daily limit. If you paste a lot of links very quickly, it asks you to wait a minute. There is no paid version and no account to create.
Can it download Instagram and Facebook reels?
Yes, public reels on both. Paste the reel's link, then save it as an MP4 or keep only the sound as an MP3. Reels from private accounts cannot be saved, by this app or any honest one.
Where do downloaded videos go on Android?
Into a YTMP3X folder inside Downloads. Videos appear in your gallery, audio in your music app, and the app has its own player as well.

Not yet. On an iPhone or iPad, open the web converter in Safari. It works the same way and there is nothing to install.
Can it download private videos or stories?
No. It reads only what anyone could open without signing in: public posts, reels, pins and videos. Private accounts, stories, messages and paid subscriber posts stay where they are.
Is it legal to download social media videos?
Keeping your own videos, or ones you have permission to save, is fine. Re-uploading someone else's work or using it commercially usually is not, and each site's own terms apply too. The person who made a video decides what can be done with it.
Why does a link sometimes fail?
Most often the post was deleted or made private, or the site was briefly turning our servers away. Try again in a few minutes. If a public post keeps failing, tell us through the contact page and we will look at it.
Do you keep a copy of my files?
No. In the Android app the file downloads straight to your phone. In the web converter it is deleted from our servers a few minutes after you save it.
